Zebra AP 8232 802.11ac Access Point.
The Zebra AP 8232 802.11ac access point – next generation 1.3 Gbps 802.11ac radio delivers fifth-generation Wi-Fi at desktop speeds — nearly four times the speed of 802.11n — while its 802.11n radio ensures backward compatibility with every mobile device in use today. A modular design adds to its versatility, supporting a wide range of additional capabilities through plug and play modules, from 3G/4G/LTE redundant backhaul to intrusion protection. The Zebra AP 8232 is now part of the Extreme Wing family due to the completion of Extreme Networks Inc acquisition of Zebra Technologies WLAN Business.
Zebra AP 8232 802.11ac Access Point Key Features and Benefits
Dual Radio 802.11ac/802.11n
Easy upgrade path to 5th Generation 1.36 Gbps Wi-Fi for unmatched performance and capacity, with backward support for all existing Wi-Fi client services. 3-spatial stream 3X3 MIMO access point ensures maximum throughput to support virtually any enterprise application, including voice and HD video.
Unmatched Bandwidth for Unbeatable Network and Application Performance
802.11ac technology offers up to four times the bandwidth of its predecessor. Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) allows data delivery in multiple streams to a single device simultaneously, allowing for bandwidth increases from 150 Mbps to 433 Mbps. 802.11ac operates exclusively in the 5 Ghz band, eliminating interference from 2.4 Ghz devices — including Bluetooth® headsets and microwave ovens. The AP 8232 is “network aware,” making it compatible with all other Zebra WiNG 5 controllers and access points. Working together, the WiNG 5 system will define the fastest, most robust path for every transmission.
A snap-on module provides dedicated wireless IPS sensing without standalone hardware, power cabling, or Ethernet cabling. Compliance with government and industry regulations such as HIPAA in healthcare and PCI in retail are ensured, while the network is protected by comprehensive integrated security features including layer 2-7 stateful packet filtering firewall, AAA RADIUS services, wireless intrusion protection system (IPS), VPN gateway, and location-based access control.
Standard USB Interface for Attachments
The AP 8232’s innovative modular architecture makes it easy to add new capabilities by simply snapping on up to two modules. Installation costs are also simplified and reduced using standard Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). The AP 8232 leverages wireless infrastructure, eliminating the need to run separate network and power cabling for added functionality.
Easy Migration to 5th Generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi
With its dual-radio design, the AP 8232 provides the technology advantages of 802.11ac while its 802.11n radio ensures support for all existing mobile devices, including 2.4 GHz clients. Radios work together, so organizations can migrate to 802.11ac at their own pace with no costly “rip and replace” transition.
Voice, Locationing and Guest Access
The AP 8232 supports Voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) quality of service to ensure toll-quality performance — even with many simultaneous calls on a single access point. The AP 8232 also provides locationing services to locate and track people and assets, enhancing control over network and application access. And for hotspot and guest access, the AP 8232 can limit access to authorized networks, sites and applications.
