The Magellan 8500 is optionally equipped with Checkpoint® EAS. Standard factory warranty is one year.
Datalogic Magellan 8500 Features and Benefits.
The Magellan® 8500 scanner and scanner/scales are the highest performing fixed point-of-sale (POS) scanners in the world. Specifically designed for high-volume retail applications, the Magellan 8500 scanners utilize Datalogic’s patented SurroundScan 3D Scanning technology. With SurroundScan, the scanner aggressively reads all six sides of an item, virtually eliminating misreads and reduces ergonomic problems by allowing cashiers the freedom to scan items in their natural orientation.
All 8500 models are equipped with stainless steel platters and can be configured as either scanner or scanner/scale combination featuring Datalogic’s exclusive, patented All-Weighs® scale platter to ensure accurate produce and bulk food weighing at the checkout. The 8500 model options include two lengths: long and short (scanner only) to accommodate various point-of-sale configurations.
FirstStrike® advanced software decoding algorithms provide the industry’s best scanning speed and simultaneously improve first pass read rates of damaged, wrinkled, or poorly printed bar codes delivering improved operational efficiencies at the retail checkout.
Flash memory allows for easy software upgrades that help extend the life of the retailer’s investment. In addition, an auxiliary RS-232 port can be utilized in a variety of ways, including adding a handheld scanner, programming and configuring the scanner, or accessing the scanners label data output. For applications requiring electronic article surveillance (EAS), the 8500 can be equipped with Checkpoint EAS and can support Sensormatic EAS systems with good read acknowledgement via the auxiliary RS-232 port. Optional Value Added Features provide optional information tools that help decrease front-end costs by managing information on scanner software and diagnostics.
